The Meeting Place Ritual
Jul 26, 2026
This is a short ritual I've used and taught for years, and it takes about five minutes. No experience needed, no special tools, and no pressure for anything dramatic to happen. Guidance rarely shouts; this teaches you where to sit so you can hear it.
The Meeting Place
Find five undisturbed minutes. Light a candle if you have one; the small act of lighting it tells your whole system that this time is different from ordinary time. Sit comfortably, feet on the floor, hands resting easy.
Close your eyes and take three slow breaths, letting each exhale be a little longer than the one before. With the third breath, say quietly, aloud or within: I am here, and I am listening.
Now imagine a place where you feel completely safe and completely yourself. It might be real, a beach you love, a childhood garden, a room, or entirely imagined. Let it build gently around you: the light, the sounds, the feeling of the air. Don't strain for detail; a rough sketch is enough. This is your meeting place, and it belongs to you.
In this place, find somewhere to sit: a bench, a rock, a chair by a window. Sit down, and then extend the invitation. Say, inwardly: I invite my highest guidance to join me here. Only that which is loving and true is welcome.
And then, the important part: wait, softly, without grabbing. You may sense a presence beside you. You may see light, or a figure, or a colour. You may feel a shift in the air, a warmth, a peace, a sense of company. And you may feel nothing at all the first time, which is completely fine; the meeting place is being built, and your guides are endlessly patient.
If you'd like to, ask one simple question. Not twenty; one. Then let whatever comes, come: a word, an image, a feeling, a memory surfacing. Don't judge it or analyse it yet. Just receive it the way you'd receive something small and precious placed in your hand.
When it feels complete, say thank you, in whatever words are yours. Watch the meeting place gently fade, feel your feet on the floor, take one deeper breath, and open your eyes. Blow out the candle and, if you can, jot down whatever arrived, even if it seemed like nothing. Guidance loves to make sense in hindsight.
That's the whole ritual. Use it once, and it's a lovely experience; use it a few times a week, and something quietly remarkable happens: the meeting place gets more vivid, the arrivals more distinct, and you start to realise the appointment was always in both diaries.
